Relay has in conjunction with a major supplier to the rail industry designed and developed a fibre optic light box for signals which enables maintenance to be carried out with less disruption and more safely therefore minimising disruptions to rail network operations. These signal light boxes have been installed, to date, at London's Paddington station and Leeds' Central station.

Further development of the fibre optic light box led to Relay developing an innovative tilting signal. Together with the major supplier Relay has been contracted to build and supply some forty of these tilting signals at the new St Pancras station, part of the Channel Tunnel Rail Link. Further orders are anticipate as modernisation of the rail system takes place.
